A great night for Cranbourne CC was had last night (Wednesday 3/6/09) in an East Berks 20/20 league clash against DatchetCC.
Datchet batted first and produced some fine stokeplay. Cranbourne were under pressure throughout the innings, but stuck to the task and took wickets at crucial times. As Datchet only fielded 10 players any player making 25 and retiring was not allowed to return to the crease to continue their innings (a league rule - you must field 11 players - it makes sense). This meant Cranbourne managed to bowl Datchet out with 9 balls to go for a getable target.
Cranbourne started their innings in positive fashion with some excellent strokeplay from Giles Goodwin who looked in fine form. Greg Du Preez also looked in good nick and Dave Crick was once again in good form. The game got a bit tense towards the end, but good old Irfan saw us home with some good hitting.
It was an excellent team performace again and I believe it was the team spirit that pulled us through. Well done lads - a great performance - keep it up !!!!
